Yearning to Love a Poet
In this essay, I weave memoir, music, and poetry to relay my experience of falling in love for the first time with my undergraduate poetry professor.
Creative writing and journaling have always been passions of mine. It started when I first heard Saul Williams' She on the iTunes library I pirated from my sister and when my other sister got me a journal with the embossed quote on the cover: "To the world you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world." Since then, poetry and memoir have captivated me.
The more writing and live performance I do, the more I learn about my own writing style and how my writing weaves poetry, memoir, music, and liveness into its presentation. ✨
